Chicago Had Its Sunniest October In A Century — But That’s About To Change — Chicago Sports news

CHICAGO — It s not your imagination: The weather has been incredible in Chicago this month. After the month began with 1.41 inches of rainfall on Oct. 1, we ve experienced an October that is far warmer, sunnier and drier than normal. The opening salvo of our traditionally cloudy period of the year has not been the case this year, WGN-TV meteorologist Bill Snyder told Block Club. As of Wednesday, we ve seen 75 percent of possible sun, compared to the normal 57 percent. It s also been abnormally warm. With average high temperatures above 70 degrees, and the overall temperature at 61.2 degrees, we re over 6 degrees above average in October. That ranks as the sixth-warmest October since records began in Chicago, and the warmest since 1971, according to Snyder. Not a drop of rain in 12 days, he said.
